Development as Attitude: A National Dialogue Series (Lagos)

The Nigeria Hamilton Project is an initiative designed to stimulate national conversations around leadership, governance, and economic transformation.

It is supported by the Gates Foundation, and The Nigeria Hamilton Project aims to catalyse critical, expert-led, evidence-based discussions that drive socioeconomic impact. This initiative provides a unique platform to bridge academic discourse and real-world policymaking, engaging scholars, policymakers, corporate leaders and citizens in meaningful dialogues on the primacy of leadership mindset in influencing national development.

As part of this initiative, we are convening a thought-provoking panel inspired by Prof. Osita Ogbu’s seminal book, Development as Attitude: How National Progress is Shaped by Leadership Philosophy and Citizens’ Orientation. The session will explore the role of leadership philosophy, citizens engagement, and collective action towards shaping development outcomes. It will also examine comparative development experiences from Nigeria and selected African countries, with the goal of refining national and regional development strategies.
